Case Studies
Southern Water - crossing the River Stour
Holleran replaced a failing cast iron pipe, which spanned the River Stour and a listed cottage via an old pipe bridge, with twin 500mm HPPE pipelines running over a distance of 200m under the river ensuring minimum breakout in an environmentally sensitive location. The launching location was restricted to a limited space between a road bridge and the cottage, however Holleran successfully completed the installation by directionally drilling and connecting the two pipes into an existing 24" water main.
Severn Trent Water - mains cleaning
Mains cleaning works for Severn Trent Water, on behalf of Mouchel Parkman, involved undertaking detailed pre-planning activities and the installation of reusable swab insertion points which allowed Holleran's experienced team to clean lengths of up to 3km of 400mm and 600mm diameter pipelines in under four hours. The process, which demonstrates pro-active network management and satisfies DWI requirements, improved water quality and reduced customer complaints of water discolouration.
Holleran Lagan Construction JV - mains rehabilitation
In April 2004, DRD Northern Ireland Water Service entered into a £60m five-year design and construct contract with Holleran Lagan Construction Joint Venture to deliver mains rehabilitation to the region. The JV project team employs cost effective trenchless techniques such as pipe bursting, in situ spray lining and directional drilling in place of more disruptive open-cut mains laying.
Essex & Suffolk Water - programme delivery through no dig technology
Holleran delivered more than 90% of Essex & Suffolk Water's £27m AMP3 programme of mains rehabilitation works by utilising trenchless techniques such as pipe bursting, in situ spray lining and directional drilling in place of more disruptive open-cut mains laying. The Holleran Group can provide all these services in-house, offering customers cost effective and innovative solutions on every project that the company undertakes.
